Show 255 "Guestmix by Roberto Bronco (Bielefeld, Germany)" [Interview inside]

I got this mixtape from my friend "Roberto Bronco". After the first 15minutes listening, I decided to bring this mix as a Deep Inspiration Show. Incredible selection of Hip Hop / Soul / Funk/ Downtempo. I hope you enjoy the mix like I do !

INTERVIEW WITH ROBERTO BRONCO (presented by Mixes Apples South Africa)

MA- Please can you introduce yourself and tell us where you are from?
My artist name is Roberto Bronco. I am thirty years old and I’m living in Bielefeld, located in the north-east of North Rhine Westfalia, Germany.
MA- Can you give us a bit of background on how you got started in music?
I got passionate for music, especially HipHop, at the age of about 13/14. Allthough I played instruments in my childhood, this was something different. I was fascinated by scratching, beats and the other elements, but there was no real keymoment that got me into it. It was more or less some kind of active development over years.
In 1999 I bought my first turntables, realizing the older I got and the more i digged, the more I was a hit. This counts for other genres too. I also started liking electronic music and chillout stuff in my youth. My older brother was a big tecno fan in the 90ies and still is, so the 4/4 rhythm from upstairs in the night and chillout in the morning was part of every day life, which also hit me till today. So music attended my whole life, but my passion started with HipHop.
MA- What have been you biggest influences in your music journey thus far?
There are so many great musicians all around the world that it’s hard to say for me in generally. In HipHop there were Producers and Dj’s like Premo, Pete Rock, Diamond-D, Dilla, Rza, Invisible Scratch Piklz, X-Ecutioners and lots of others which were a big influence.
I wondered from the beginning where those samples in the beats come from. As I started digging I got into the world of Soul, Funk, Blues, Jazz and much more. So theres a big influence there too. After digging half of my life I can say that I found Inspiration in so much different music that there are no genres left today, just good or bad music in my ears.
MA- What genre of music do you specialise in?
As a consumer, I listen to many kinds of music. It depends on the mood I’m in, or the feeling I want to get. As a musican i like making music something in between HipHop, Lounge, Chillout, BigBeat, all of it with a soulful chilled natural vibe. As a DJ it goes from HipHop to Funk, Soul, BigBeat, ChillOut, Lounge. DrumandBass, Downbeat and whatever in between and all around, back and forth.
MA- What has been one of your highlights as a DJ?
There was no big highlight like I could say “this is it”, but lots of good memories. I was mixing on parties in Bielefeld and surroundings for some years, but I can’t say that I was an every-weekend-party-dj and very engaged to become one. You need one and a half hands to count the gigs in 12 months, i guess since maybe 2009 I kept it more or less private.
This was more or less because I was still scratching and producing beats at home for several HipHop artists, but mixing on party was over. In the last few years I got more and more focused on producing beats, especially chilled out ones which became more and more a passion over the years. I also reactivated my childhood/youth instrument skillz, so the DJ’ing nearly fell asleep…. But he has woken up.
MA- What don’t you leave the house without?
I never forget my Mp3 player. By the way, it is the only thing i never forget. This is a serious problem!
MA- What is playing in your iPod right now?
One of my favorite tracks at the moment is “Dexter – Pictures (feat. Josa Peit)”
MA- What can we expect from this guest mix on the Deep Inspiration Show?
You can expect a chilled out mix of tracks that attended me lots of years, some older and some younger, all with a special kind of vibe. I hope you’ll feel the same, and by the way: Thx a lot to Jazzman for having me on the Deep Inspiration Show.
